Scoccia and Ferdinandi, a duel of words that awakens the city of Perugia to the ballot

The city of Perugia is in turmoil, with the ballot approaching and political tensions increasing. Margherita Scoccia and Vittoria Ferdinandi, the two candidates, have returned to face each other, fueling a heated and passionate debate.

The centre-right coalition argues that Ferdinandi’s candidacy could return the city to a past of ideological extremism, an era they believe has long since passed. Ferdinandi, for his part, responds that the right continues to conduct an electoral campaign based on exploitation and delegitimisation of the opponent, trying to label it as extremist, a label which he considers unfounded.

The center-right sees the elections of 23 and 24 June as a crucial moment for Perugia, a point of no return. According to them, the citizens of Perugia have a great responsibility: they must choose between a future of unity and optimism, or a return to a past of divisions and extreme ideologies.

Ferdinandi, however, invites us to reflect on why the citizens expressed such a severe judgment on the outgoing council, refusing to renew their confidence in half of the councillors. He criticizes the idea that on the one hand there are only dreams and on the other solid realities, arguing that the latter are not solid at all.

Ferdinandi invites us to look at the electoral campaigns conducted by both sides. He claims that their electoral campaign is a model of what their method of government will be, based on listening, participation, the ability to summarize and translate into concrete proposals. He underlines the difference between extremism and radicalism, stating that radicalism means having the courage to take responsibility for one’s choices.

The run-off race has already begun and it seems that voters are ready to participate too. Many are collecting their voter cards, with a notable influx of citizens into the Monteluce offices. This is a sign of the great attention that the elections are generating among the citizens of Perugia.
