THE MEASURE
He met her in the entrance hall of the building where they lived together. When he saw her, he immediately stood in front of her. He first forcibly forced her into her apartment, where he began to insult her, clearly drunk. Once inside her, he slapped her, making her hit her head against the wall. A story of violence that occurred the other night in Latina, where only the immediate intervention of the police, which the victim managed to alarm through a second phone she had with her, avoided much worse consequences. The protagonists of the story are a man and a woman, both of Romanian origins, who until recently lived together in an apartment in the capital, before splitting up.
The other evening the two met in the stairwell hall. It was dark. The situation has worsened. The drunk man, after forcing her to enter her old house, began to insult her, mad with jealousy to the point of giving her a slap: the one that made her fall against the wall, hitting her head.
An outburst of anger that the woman tried to escape by taking refuge in the bathroom, but not before he snatched her cell phone away to prevent her from calling for help. Luckily, however, the victim had a second smartphone with her, with which she called the single emergency number 112. On the other end of the receiver was the Latina police station. The agents, having heard his cry of alarm, immediately sent some patrols from the Flying Squad. Once they reached the building and found the man on the landing, the latter, clearly under the influence of alcohol, tried to minimize the incident, explaining that it was a simple argument, already resolved before their arrival. A very different version from the one told on the telephone by her ex-partner who, once heard by the investigators, instead reconstructed a context of violence and threats suffered on several occasions. Many of which were promptly reported; others, however, were kept hidden, but confirmed by medical reports. A testimony which, also based on the elements collected regarding violent behavior repeated over time, allowed the officers to arrest the man, in handcuffs for the crime of mistreatment. Transferred to the Latina prison, the foreigner is now in the penitentiary facility in via Aspromonte, at the disposal of the judicial authorities.
