“My school is different”, awards for students of the CPIA BAT “Gino Strada”

On 12 June at the Salesian oratory of Andria as part of the project “My school is different”, a prestigious award was assigned to the digital product created by the students of the CPIA BAT “Gino Strada” of Andria for innovation and environmental commitment. The project consists of a presentation of photos, transformed into works of art, which document the clean up activity of the “Bosco della Rimembranza” in front of the school.

The presentation opens with an innovative introduction: Leonardo Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa, brought to life thanks to artificial intelligence, speaks directly to the public, encouraging them to always keep the environment clean. The Mona Lisa, which comes to life and communicates with the spectators, represented an exciting and motivating moment for all participants.

During the implementation of the project, teachers and students not only contributed to cleaning the garden, but also used advanced digital technologies. The photos taken during the clean up activity were transformed into authentic works of art through artificial intelligence. This process allowed participants to explore new frontiers of digital creativity and appreciate the positive impact of technology.

For many students, in their first experience with these technologies, it was surprising to see how a simple click could animate the Mona Lisa, making her speak. The project raised awareness of the importance of caring for the environment and provided participants with valuable digital skills.

The inspiration for this work came from Andy Warhol’s famous quote: “Having land and not ruining it is the most beautiful form of art”. This thought guided the entire project, making the message of the presentation even more significant.

The recognition obtained and the work carried out by teachers and students demonstrate that technological innovation can go hand in hand with environmental responsibility, creating a positive impact on the community and the planet.

At the end of the awards ceremony, the teachers thanked everyone present for the award and for the invitation to participate in the initiative which was greatly appreciated by the adult students who rarely have the opportunity to take an active part in this type of activity.

«I am so proud of the students and teachers of “Gino Strada” – declared the head teacher Paolo Farina -. Every day more and more, their thirst for knowledge, their commitment, their ability to exercise active citizenship surprise me in a positive way and offer new stimuli to renew their commitment. Seeing them then clean up the Bosco della Rimembranza, right there, under the gaze of Gino who stands out from the mural in front, has something truly moving. Thanks thanks thanks. And thanks also to the Municipal Administration for the prestigious recognition of an Educating Community which, until some time ago, was a bit of an unknown example.”
