It’s now done for Luca Tabbiani.
The name of the Fiorenzuola coach was also read in the list of possible new Trento coaches and, apparently, it will be the coach of Ligurian origins who will replace Francesco Baldini on the eagle bench.
Intense days, these immediately after the stop to the negotiations with Baldini, during which the Giacca owner Giacca on the one hand and the sporting director Zamuner on the other were forced to speed up the process in search of the most suitable profile to take up Baldini’s legacy .
Luca Tabbiani, 45 years old, therefore starts again from Serie C after the disappointing epilogue of this season – at the helm of Fiorenzuola – relegated to Serie D after the end of the playouts.
Tabbiani had been compared, if not even taken for granted, to Pistoiese and instead the club from via Sanseverino managed to overcome the competition from the Tuscans and beyond. But – above all – Trento would have preferred him to other CVs on the table such as those of Massimo Pavanel, Roberto Venturato and Alberto Villa. Thus, the Chiappella hypothesis also evaporated.
We could define this as a return for Tabbiani, considering that he had already been there in Trento, but as a player. He played on the grass of «Briamasco» in the 2001-2002 season, in Serie C2, making 23 appearances and scoring 5 goals.
The following season he signed with Cremonese, helping the Lombard team make the leap from Serie C2 to Serie B in the space of three years.
In 2014, however, he began his coaching career – to be precise as assistant coach – on the bench of Vado (in Liguria, ed.) in Serie D. He took charge the following season but was sacked in the winter and then the various destinations they will keep him between D and Serie C.
In the summer of 2023 he was made official as the new coach of Catania, newly promoted to Serie C but he was sacked a few months later, leaving the Catania team in mid-table, after five wins, three draws and five defeats in thirteen matches between the championship and cup.
At the beginning of 2024 he returns to the Fiorenzuola bench, again in Serie C, replacing Francesco Turrini. He ends the season in third-last place, losing the play-outs to Novara.
In the corridors of «Briamasco» the news of the agreement reached becomes insistent but for the moment the news is still without official status.
It’s just a matter of waiting for the eagle club to write down the terms of the agreement and spread them in the press. In short, it’s just a matter of waiting.
