JOINT FORCE EXERCISE ORGANIZED BY THE FIREFIGHTERS SUCCESSFULLY CONCLUDED

A complex joint exercise organized by the Regional Directorate of the Basilicata Fire Brigade which involved over 120 rescuers has just ended in the evocative setting of the medieval village of Brienza (PZ).

An emergency scenario was imagined caused by a 6.5 magnitude earthquake, with partial collapses involving a group of tourists.

The operational protocols foreseen for this type of scenario were activated and teams of firefighters from the Potenza and Matera commands intervened.

In particular, the USAR (Urban Search and Rescue) unit, the SAF (Alpine Fluvial Speleum) unit, the SAPR (Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems) unit and the Dog Unit.

The exercise activities were broadcast in live streaming thanks to the use of an innovative satellite communication system and mobile control wagons, used by qualified personnel, supplied to the National Fire Brigade.

The exercise was also attended by soldiers from the Carabinieri, personnel from the State Police, the Local Police and the Civil Protection associations coordinated by the Regional Civil Protection Office, as well as volunteers from the Italian Red Cross and members of the local Section of the ‘National Association of Fire Brigades of the National Corps.

The scenarios were made even more plausible by the presence of figures who pretended to be citizens worried about their families and journalists looking for updated news on the evolution of events.
