Messina, a day for the family doctor – lasiciliaweb

A national day dedicated to family doctors that Messina wanted to celebrate by bringing health workers, young and old, among the people, through the streets and squares. All this because the recent survey carried out by Ipsos throughout Italy demonstrated that 77% of patients consider the general practitioner to be the “main point of reference for their health”. An appreciation that Fimmg, the most representative union led by Silvestro Scotti, wanted to highlight with the distribution of a flyer thanking users for the trust placed in this important figure of the National Health System.

“An opportunity to say thank you to our patients – underlined the Fimmg national president, Giacomo Caudo (in the photo third from the left with Gaetano Cincotta, Giuseppe Zagami and Ruben Ganci) – and meet them even outside the doctors’ offices, but also to reflect together on other significant data emerging from Ipsos’ work, for example the fact that for 26% of citizens the family doctor mainly carries out an administrative and bureaucratic function, for 25% it serves as a filter for in-depth examinations and specialists. The figure of 77%, which gives us the most esteemed place in the health process, even rises to 85% for the over 60s, who, as is known, represent an important portion of healthcare spending”. The evaluation of family doctors is homogeneous throughout the country, regardless of urban or suburban contexts, level of education, income and profession.
