Everything is ready for the eleventh edition of the Penalty Awards. Once again, the tenacity and determination of Patron Ettore Tortorici have ensured that Sicilian amateur football has, this year too, the right and worthy conclusion of the season in the splendid setting of the Regina Margherita Theatre, in the heart of Caltanissetta.

Wednesday 19 June at 4.00 pm (with free entry) the most awaited catwalk of the Sicilian non-professional movement will have a high quality side dish. All the most important Sicilian FIGC managers and many national and regional football professionals will be present, from Sandro Morgana, as president of the FIGC LND Sicilia will receive the Gold Penalty Award, to president Valerio Antonini of Trapani FC and the Vice President of Catania FC Vincenzo Grella up to some of the most well-known sports directors, coaches and professionals in Sicily.
Four categories will be awarded.
Excellence and Promotion category with three nominations per role: best goalkeeper, defender, midfielder, attacker, coach and manager.
For the First Category, three nominations per role will always compete but only as best player, coach and manager.
For Serie D, only the best Sicilian coach will be rewarded and also for this year, the third in a row, the prize will be awarded to Alfio Torrisi of Trapani FC.
The unique emotion of the Penalty Awards consists mainly in knowing the winners only through the opening of the envelopes which will take place on stage. Trepidation and suspense have always characterized the event, making it one of a kind.
This year too, special prizes will be awarded: for the press Andrea Lodato, who has always had a profound knowledge of the Sicilian fabric, for the section A man for sport the prize will instead be awarded to Pippo Leone, promoter and organizer of major events linked to the world of sports in many disciplines.
The TV Character award goes to Cosimo Alberti, the multifaceted Neapolitan actor protagonist of “Un posto al sole”, one of the television soaps most loved by the Italian public, will be the protagonist on the Caltanissetta stage also with an original surprise.
There will be four winners for Football Career. Three of them are linked to the 1988-1989 Licata miracle who landed in Serie B for the first time. We are talking about Giacomo Modica, Domenico Giacomarro and Giovanni Sorce. They are joined by former international Nicola Legrottaglie, one of the players most loved by Catania fans.
As for the 2024 Team Awards, it could only be awarded to the overwhelming and convincing Valerio Antonini, president of Trapani FC for his winning run in Serie D.
This year the 11 Meter Penalty Award has also been established for those who have particularly distinguished themselves in this competitive season through their sporting and cultural language. The following will be present and receive the award: Davide Mignemi, former sporting director of Gubbio Calcio, Vincenzo Grella, vice president of Catania FC, and Fabio Capuana director of FIGC LND Sicilia.
To accompany the great gala, some artistic moments with the performance of Alosha, namely the mime dance of Giuseppe Marino, the splendid voice of Adela, the theatrical intervention of the actor Franco Licciardello and the choreographies of Marianna Tomagra of Punto Danza.
In short, once again sport and entertainment together for a winning and captivating combination.

I clearly wanted to thank, in addition to Play Village, owner of the brand and format, all my closest collaborators and in particular the architect Salvo Campo. We look forward to seeing you all in Caltanissetta on June 19th at the beautiful Regina Margherita Theater and in this regard I also thank the Mayor Roberto Gambino and the Sports Councilor Fabio Caracausi who strongly wanted the Award in their splendid city which is ideal for its logistical centrality for a regional event”.
