All‘internal of the MoCoSvi project – Mobility for international development cooperation l‘University of Verona will host Lacina Yéo, professor of the‘University of Abidjan of the Coast d‘Avorio, with the aim of promoting a scientific and educational exchange between the two partner universities.
During these 3 months, Lacina Yéo will carry out educational activities in‘field of German studies, as well as researching intercultural exchanges between Africa and Europe. The teacher’s visit is part of a strategic line promoted by the excellence project of the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures on Inclusive Humanities (2023-2027). Thanks to this collaboration, an agreement was signed between the Scala department and that of the University of Abidjan in Ivory Coast. This agreement joins others stipulated in recent months with universities and institutions in Africa, Asia and South America, including those with the universities of Kyoto, Hanoi, Lagos and Yerevan.
“The Inclusive humanities promoted by our department aim to fill a cultural and scientific gap – he explains Massimo Salgaro, teacher of German literature -. To date, most academic research comes from Western, educated, industrialized, rich and democratic (WERD) countries and the proposed models are based on the Western canon; with Inclusive humanities the department intends to also focus on marginalized groups, minority languages and World literature and its non-Western users”.
“The purpose of‘MoCoSvi initiative – he concludes Salgaro – is to encourage collaborations to and from institutions in developing countries, in line with the sustainable development objectives of the UN Agenda 2030, such as the fight against inequalities”.
