“But give me two weeks for the new council”

Having worn the tricolor sash, Andrea Biancani, the new mayor of Pesaro, tested the armchair which had belonged to Matteo Ricci until 24 hours earlier. The comfortable seat allows him to quickly pick up the phone, pick up the receiver and simulate the interlocutor: “Hello Putin…”. Ricci laughs next to him and the televisions record the euphoria of the moment, a joke, after hours of tension. It is clear that both Andrea Biancani and Matteo Ricci, looking at what awaits them, are excited. “It’s good that Matteo is going to Europe – observed Biancani immediately after taking over the baton –: he has achieved an extraordinary feat. But I also told him that if he goes he needs to bring some money to Pesaro: there are a lot of construction sites , there are many resources, but I repeat: if he doesn’t bring me the money I will make statements against him.”

We asked Ricci how he gets along with English and with synthesis, given that each speech in Parliament must not exceed 2 minutes: “English? I’ve been studying it for a year – observes Ricci amused –: I did notable steps. I will continue to study it, even if I got by with the first speeches in English given in New York and Berlin. For the rest, television has helped me to summarize: staying in European times will not be a problem”.

In short, yesterday in the Municipality, in a cheerful and relaxing atmosphere, the handover between Biancani and Ricci took place. Elio Giuliani puts his own spin on it: “Test of reflexes for the new mayor – says Giuliani – tell us something that he hasn’t said yet…”. And Biancani: “I’ll go to the beach on Sunday.” Once the sash is worn, the race to make the council and reunite the Council begins. The questions seriously return to all the councillors, but Biancani resists the pressure of the journalists: “I took a couple of weeks for the council. We are not talking about appointing the governance of a bowling club. With all due respect to the bowling clubs. However, I have already started meeting the first delegations”. And in fact, yesterday, in the Municipality there were almost all those who came out well or very well at the polls. But Biancani is determined: “The square must be found. There are seven lists, with completely different weights, but we will try to do it as soon as possible. The two-week deadline does not seem dramatic to me: we are used to doing everything quickly, but first of all the things must be done well.” For now, there are three very first points on the mayor’s agenda: calling the elections for the neighborhood councils, strengthening the municipal sectors in view of the Pnrr deadlines and meeting, with Vimini, the city tourist guides. “These have asked us for greater involvement – said Biancani –. We will verify the possibility of a change in opening hours in museums with accessibility also at lunch time. I have already asked the offices to evaluate this possibility”. Biancani said it in the morning, to do it in the afternoon. At 6pm yesterday the very first press release from the new mayor announced the news to citizens and tourists: “From Saturday 15 June – observes the note – the summer opening hours of the museums that can be visited with the Pesaro Capitale Card come into force which will offer an extension that embraces lunch time”. The measure will be valid until September 15th. “A staggered opening of the individual museums is expected, thus allowing an optimal distribution of visits even during lunch breaks, with the possibility of exploring the various structures throughout the day from 10am to 7pm. Not only that. Evening openings are also planned (9pm-11pm), on Tuesdays for Palazzo Mosca and Casa Rossini, on Wednesdays for the Oliveriano Archaeological Museum to celebrate the Rossini Opera Festival, from 7th to 23rd August Casa Rossini offers continuous opening hours 10am-7pm, also on Mondays. .
