“This morning’s demonstration in Caserta was a protest felt by the entire world of metalworking and beyond. In Piazza Dante there were thousands of workers asking for an industrial development plan for Caserta and Campania. We are tired of seeing important companies leaving the South without the government doing anything to make them stay.” Thus the general secretary of Uilm Campania, Crescenzo Auriemma, commenting on the eight-hour strike proclaimed in the province of Caserta by the unions with related procession and rally in the square.

“We are tired of seeing every day our young graduates and diploma holders who, after years of study, have to leave their territories to go elsewhere to make use of their skills, impoverishing our territory of capacity. In Caserta, after Softlab, Orefice and many other companies, including Jabil, have decided to close their doors, leaving thousands of workers on the streets – added Auriemma – From being a land of work, Caserta is turning into an industrial desert”.

“As Uilm we believe that large industrial groups must participate in an industrial recovery in the South. The government must pay particular attention to our territory because Italy without the South will never be able to boast of being an industrial and productive nation. To avoid encouraging the growth of crime, there is only one solution: safe and dignified work. This is why we were in the streets today and we do not rule out a regional strike in preparation for a national one”, concluded the leader of Uilm Campania.
