PESARO, 13 JUN – Sergio Castellitto, with a tribute on the twentieth anniversary of one of his most successful films, “Don’t Move”, will inaugurate the 60th edition of the Mostra Internazionale del New Cinema. Many guests are expected at the event directed by Pedro Armocida and organized by the Pesaro Nuovo Cinema Foundation, and which will continue until June 22nd in the capital city as Italian Capital of Culture 2024: among them, the director Luca Guadagnino who will receive the Pesaro 60 Special Prize, Ficarra and Picone, Franco Maresco, Jasmine Trinca, Valentina Lodovini, Enzo D’Alò. A very rich program, that of the exhibition, whose heart remains the international competition dedicated to new languages ​​and the most innovative forms of filmmaking: three juries, made up of students, international professionals such as Júlio Bressane, Myriam Mézières and Luís Miñarro, and the jury of the new Italian Critics Award of the National Union of Italian Film Critics with Emanuele Di Nicola, Arianna Vietina and Sarah Van Put. For the 60th edition, the program starts early with a tribute to Italian cinema; protagonists, in addition to Castellitto, also Ficarra and Picone whose films will all be screened and who are in Pesaro on 16 June to present “L’oraglesta”, and the director Franco Maresco with a selection of films made outside the couple with Daniele Cipri. On June 17th there is the national preview of the biopic “Maria Montessori. La nouvelle femme”, directed by Léa Todorov, with Jasmine Trinca protagonist in the role of the pedagogist from the Marche. On June 18th the square will be for Valentina Lodovini in a tribute to Carlo Mazzacurati on the tenth anniversary of his death with the vision of “The right distance”. On 22 June Luca Guadagnino receives the special prize for the 60th edition and for Pesaro Italian Capital of Culture 2024, as the most international Italian director and most linked to the idea of ​​”new cinema”; the closing screening of the festival is dedicated to him, with his latest film “Challengers”. For the La Vela Incantata – Cinema on the beach series, the projections on the seashore on 35mm film celebrate two important centenaries, that of Marcello Mastroianni and Walter Chiari. In the section dedicated to children the spotlight will turn on June 20th on Enzo D’Alò who presents his latest work, “Mary and the Spirit of Midnight”. On the children’s programme, workshops with illustrators such as Piero Tonin and Manfredo Manfredi, and two Italian previews, “10 Lives” by Christopher Jenkins and The Inseparables by Jérèmie Degruson. Also on the program is a tribute to famous films celebrating two thirty years: “Four Weddings and a Funeral” by Mike Newell, and on June 19th “Forrest Gump” by Robert Zemeckis with Tom Hanks. For international cinema, the focus is on Júlio Bressane, one of the greatest Brazilian directors influenced by Italian Neorealism and the Nouvelle Vague, of which “Leme do destiny” unpublished in Italy will be screened, and in world premiere, “Relâmpagos de críticas Murmúrios metaphysical”. Focus also on Brigid McCaffrey, whose work documents environments and people in states of change, and on Dutch filmmaker Jaap Pieters for a workshop on Super8 film. In collaboration with Pesaro Italian Capital of Culture and with the week dedicated to Korean culture, the 60th edition of the Festival will host three days dedicated to Korean cinema, with screenings and national previews in partnership with the Casa del Cinema of Busan. In addition to cinema, the exhibition travels the streets of music, on 21 June with a tribute concert dedicated to Henry Mancini in collaboration with the G. Rossini Conservatory of Pesaro, and with the midnight evenings of the Wall of Sound, performances and soundtracks dedicated to Zagor Camillas. The Vedomusica section will present the finalists of a selection of Italian video clips. (HANDLE).
