CASERTA – Votes bought by entrepreneurs in favor of politicians who then reciprocate with public contracts. This is the clientelistic scenario that emerges from the investigation coordinated by the public prosecutors Armando Bosso and Giacomo Urbano of the Santa Maria Capua Vetere Public Prosecutor’s Office.
This morning the handcuffs were placed on a councilor for public works in the municipality of Terra di Lavoro, some employees of the same institution and some entrepreneurs. All accused of crimes against the public administration. The investigation highlights, once again, a proven system of malfeasance and politics aimed, on the one hand, at grabbing votes, and on the other hand at collecting bribes in exchange for favors to secure contracts. The councilor for Public Works ends up under house arrest Massimiliano Marzothe director of Public Works, Francesco Biondi: the Urban Planning manager John Christmas; the employee of the technical office of the municipality of Caserta, Giuseppe Porfidia, and the entrepreneur Gioacchino Rivetti.
There are also four suspects at large: The last 4 suspects, all at large, for whom the prosecutor’s office had requested house arrest are Magdi Kachermi, head of the political secretariat of Marzo, the entrepreneurs Giuseppe Piscitelli, Michele Campanile and Pasquale Marotta. In the register of suspects there is also the name of Emiliano Casale, deputy mayor of Caserta for which the crime of electoral corruptioni.e. vote buying.
