Friday 14 June in Pavia the “Dinner in the Dark” to support the Italian Union of the Blind and Visually Impaired

PAVIA – Great success in 2024 for “Dinners in the Dark” at the Porta Damiani Restaurant in Pavia, a solidarity initiative that combines taste and charity. The last event before the summer break will be held on Friday 14 June, an opportunity to enjoy a one-of-a-kind gastronomic experience and at the same time contribute to supporting the Italian Union of the Blind and Visually Impaired.

The initiative, sponsored by the Italian Union of the Blind and Visually Impaired and organized in collaboration with Egidio Carantini, President of the Italian Union of the Blind of Pavia, it aims to raise funds for the purchase of LetiSmart intelligent canes. These devices, costing €700 each, represent an important tool for the autonomy of the blind, offering night lighting, a voice assistant that provides information on obstacles and paths and the possibility of activating in the presence of radio beacons (cost €300 each).

The proceeds from the dinners, net of expenses, will be entirely donated to the Blind Union of Pavia. A significant contribution has already arrived from the president-elect of the Rotary Passport Milano Metropolis club, Manuela Baldi, who purchased a canvas by the master Angelo Antonio Falmi exhibited in the restaurant for €1000. The painting, of much greater value, was donated by the artist himself to support the initiative.

The dinner on June 14th includes a fish-based menu: cuttlefish salad with orange vinaigrette, paccheri with seafood, slice of salmon with citrus fruits, pineapple carpaccio with raspberry sauce, water, glass of wine and coffee. The price is €65.

To book you can call the numbers 3295528485, 338 2261531 or 0382311422 or send an email to [email protected].

As he points out Marina Assandri, owner of the Porta Damiani restaurant and promoter of the initiative: “From March to today, the three editions of ‘Dinner in the Dark’ have allowed us to donate €1,800 to the Blind Union. However, the road is still long and we invite everyone to participate to help us achieve this important goal.”
