Claudio Guidetti, Emilia-Romagna regional president and provincial secretary of Action, writes in a note: “I would first of all like to thank on behalf of Action Reggio Emilia the extraordinary commitment made by volunteers, candidates and local administrators during the recent European and administrative elections. The results obtained did not correspond to expectations, especially in the Municipality of Reggio Emilia, but they nevertheless contributed to the election of Mayor Marco Massari in the first round, a result of which we are particularly pleased, and to the broad success of the centre-left coalition.
We are also very satisfied with the victories achieved in some important municipalities in the province. Montecchio confirms a mayor close to us, such as Fausto Torelli, and we elect a municipal councilor with Mauro Pecchini, municipal secretary of Action; in Scandiano we contributed with commitment to the re-election as mayor of Matteo Nasciuti; in Albinea, the reconfirmation of Roberta Ibattici occurred above all thanks to the brilliant success of our Jessica Guidetti, who collected 140 preferences, bringing the Action list above 4% in the vote for the European elections. In Sant’Ilario, our local secretary, Paolo Croci, was elected to the City Council from a civic list. We have long had our administrators in Castellarano, Canossa, Montecchio, Campegine and San Polo.
Action has in fact only been formed for a year at a local level and this certainly weighed on the unsatisfactory outcome of the vote in the capital municipality. Where, moreover, at the European elections Action exceeded 3.6%, a result which is nevertheless important and precious in the future perspective which will soon see us involved in the elections for the Emilia-Romagna Region, scheduled for the autumn which are not and will not be a a fact separate from the recently concluded local elections. In the coming weeks the party will be engaged in a phase of evaluating the results after the European session and reflecting on the strategic perspective of a political force that intends to represent the future of liberal, democratic, socialist and republican visions which are not adequately configured today in the hyper political context – Italian bipolar emerged from the polls. Action won the elections and at the same time did not achieve the hoped-for success as a list, but this fact, which is saddening, is not attributed to others with imaginative responsibilities and it does not pursue lies to justify the result by attacking its opponents after the electoral campaign is over . They are two different moments. In essence, for us style is not a clockwork mask but a rule. Soon we will begin to deal with the regional elections which will not be a political element to be considered separate from the administrative ones and as far as we are concerned we will be ready and not predictable in our ideas.
