Tina Leonzi, founder of the Italian Housewives Movement, has died

Tina Leonzi, the founder and president of Moica, the Italian Housewives Movement, has died. The sad announcement was made by the members of the national board. Leonzi has come to Ragusa several times to support the Moica municipal group, which was re-founded at the end of the 90s by Giovannella Spina Barbagallo, who later became regional president and, a few years ago led by president Anna Ottaviano. The group has now disbanded following the reform of the third sector but naturally the associative spirit that guided the Ragusa group continued, always looking also at the activities of the National Moica. The Ragusaoggi editorial team extends its deepest condolences to Leonzi’s family, continuing to underline the extraordinary battles carried out personally for the protection and recognition of the rights of housewives, starting from safety at home up to retirement.

The note from the national board

“It is with great sorrow that we communicate the loss of our beloved Founder and President Santina Gallinari Leonzi. She is measured, determined and far-sighted, she has given voice and dignity to the invisible work of family care in Italy and around the world
Tina will continue to be the lighthouse that will follow every step of our future journey.”
