Catanzaro and Noto’s iron fist: half a million euros to free Magalini and Vivarini | Calabria7

“There are some situations that need to be defined in the appropriate places.” What was declared yesterday afternoon by president of Catanzaro Floriano Noto, on the margin of Ceravolo sports award organized by Maurizio Insardà, has a precise meaning and calls into question both the sporting director Magalini and coach Vivarini. Both have already communicated to the top Giallorossi manager that they want to leave. The first is now destined for Bari, the second dreams of Serie A (Empoli or Cagliari) or a winning project in Serie B (Bari and especially Frosinone). A double farewell that Noto didn’t expect and which turns into a double case.

The preliminary contract signed by Magalini

Many were surprised at how the president had arrived in June with the sporting director’s contract expiring. In reality the facts are different. Noto had already addressed the issue linked to the future of his man-market two months ago and the parties had also reached an agreement, so much so that Magalini was convinced to put everything in black and white in a preliminary contract not immediately filed by the president. The agreement provided for a renewal on a two-year basis with a new deadline postponed to June 2027. What surprised Noto was the sensational U-turn of the sporting director who intended not to continue to embrace De Laurentiis junior’s Bari project. “I’m leaving” Magalini would have said, causing Noto to get excited and at that point he opened the safe and duly deposited the preliminary agreement signed previously. Officially Magalini is a member of Catanzaro, will not be released on June 30th and will remain tied to the Giallorossi club for another two years. Anyone who wants to hire him will first of all have to talk to Floriano Noto who, at this point, he could ask for between 100 and 150 thousand euros to free him. The alternative? A real work cause which, on a sporting level, will take place in front of the Arbitration Panel with all the associated and connected risks, especially for Magalini, forced to remain still for who knows how long.

Vivarini’s situation and the end of an idyllic relationship

For Vincenzo Vivarini there was no need for any preliminary contract. He had already signed the renewal last summer and his contract will expire in June 2025 with Catanzaro having reserved an option for a further year. The situation is clear and Floriano Noto reiterated it publicly: “He’s under contract, he can’t leave overnight.” The same applies to Magalini. Whoever wants Vivarini will have to sit at the table with the president of Catanzaro and negotiate. How much is the contract termination of the Abruzzo coach worth? Between 300 and 350 thousand euros, that is, the equivalent of the annual salary. Stirpe’s Frosinone is on his trail but watch out for the waltz of the benches in Serie A with the Nicola puzzle which could also involve Vivarini. Cagliari and Empoli are the places to keep under observation in the top national championship. The successor on the Giallorossi bench? Aquilani according to market rumors. The former Roma and Liverpool player is contractually linked to Pisa and is in the sights of Reggiana. Noto swears he did not contact him: “We have a coach under contract – he reiterated – who is Vivarini”. Truth or strategy? Certainly the rift between Vivarini and Noto is now irreparable. The president did everything to convince his coach to stay: he offered a significant adjustment to the salary and guaranteed investments on the transfer market. Nothing to do. Vivarini doesn’t think about money but about an ambitious project. He wants to win and go to Serie A. If not immediately, next year.

The future of Catanzaro and Noto’s plan B

To the farewells of Magalini and Vivarini is added the obvious farewell of Diego Foresti whose contract will expire on June 30th. No options and no renewal proposal. End of a cycle. President Noto remained alone in command but from the Casalinuovo Auditorium he reassured the fans: “We have to get used to it in the world of football there are cycles that run out.” That of the Foresti-Magalini-Vivarini triad has run out. They will go, Catanzaro and its immense fans remain with the Noto ownership. “I am very calm, we have a plan B in mind” announces Noto. Everyone is wondering who it will start again from. The latest news says that the hypothesis of Matteo Lovisa as sports director has already failed. The president of Juve Stabia demands 500 thousand euros to release him and terminate the two-year contract that binds the young manager to the Vespas. The path leading to the former Bari club is impracticable for various reasons Ciro Politothe one that leads to remains practicable and easily implementable Massimo Bava, already a member of the Giallorossi club, former manager of the youth sector of Torino who won everything and sporting director of the Granata after the farewell of Gianluca Petrachi. An internal solution not to be overlooked although little publicized by transfer market experts intent on sponsoring or promoting other profiles with CVs clearly inferior to those of Bava himself in a world where meritocracy does not always count.
