“For years now the presence of wild boars in Basilicata is also out of control.
It’s a real one invasion of which control has been lost.
An emergency reported several times that has been seen for days the Lucanian Coldiretti mobilized through the regional and provincial assemblies.
The mobilization will end in an event scheduled for the first half of July”.
To announce it the regional president of Coldiretti of Basilicata, Antonio Pessolani.
He adds Pessolani:
“The presence of wildlife represents a danger to the safety of people and a tragedy from an economic point of view.
Devastated fields, mowed down crops, car accidents including fatal ones, siege in the countryside as well as in city centres.
The presence of wild boars is not just a problem for farmers, but for everyone.
And it’s a problem that needs to be solved.”
After years of battles by Coldiretti, finally with the 2023 budget law, in force for more than 18 months now, article 19 ter of law 157/1992 has been introduced into our system, which provides for the adoption of a “Extraordinary plan for the management and containment of wildlife”.
This plan was adopted with an interministerial decree of 13 June 2023, now 12 months ago.
The containment activities arranged under the plan do not constitute hunting activities and are also implemented in areas prohibited from hunting, including protected areas and urban areas, on days of hunting silence and during periods of prohibition as required by law.
What is missing then?
The regional implementation plan is missing.
There’s no more time to waste.
Farmers and ranchers can no longer waitwhile the wild boars continue to devastate the fruits of their hard work, leaving behind only damage and desolation.
For this farmers and breeders are ready to take to the streets again“.
