In Campania one activity in four does not appear to be in order with regards to pesticides.
This is what emerged from the monthly control campaign organized by Campania Forestry Carabinieri Region Command with the competent local health authorities.
This is a campaign aimed at identifying irregular conduct in the use of plant protection products in agriculture, with possible consequences affecting the environment, human health and good agricultural practice.
The monitoring therefore highlighted that one activity in four, among those monitored in various provinces of the region, was not in compliance with current legislation. The checks focused in particular on storage phase of plant protection productson the execution of the treatment with attention to the necessary qualifications, on the documentation required by law and on the adequacy of the instruments, as well as on the subsequent phase of disposal of the waste produced.
Particular attention was also paid to keeping the treatment register, a necessary tool to have knowledge of the products, quantities and frequency of administration to the crops, which in several cases was absent, not updated or not correctly filled out. There were 82 activities checked: a total of 20 infringements were detected, with 82,000 euros in fines and three people reported to the Judicial Authority.
Among the notable activities, the one carried out in Saint Gregory the Great where the military of Buccino Forestry Carabinieri Unit they found, in a company that marketed agricultural products, the presence of 21 packs of plant protection products without the required purchasing and selling qualification certificates. The products were seized and a fine was imposed on those responsible.
