Guardia di Finanza celebrating its 250th anniversary inaugurates its monument in Legnano

The peaks of Monte Rosa carved into a granite stele, the flame symbol of the Guardia di Finanza and the quotation of the financier’s prayer: «Great God of heaven, sea and earth, bless the Guard!». And the monument to the fallen of the Guardia di Finanza in times of war and peace inaugurated today, Thursday 13 June, in the greenery of Cantoni park in via dei Bambini in Legnano.
The event falls within the context of the celebrations of the 250th anniversary of the foundation of the Corps, saw the participation of numerous civil, military and religious authorities. The Lombardy Regional Commander, General, spoke at the ceremony Giuseppe Arbore with the provincial commander of the Guardia di Finanza of Milan, general Francesco Mazzotta. To thank the mayor of Legnano for this special moment Lorenzo Radice in his speech, he expressed his gratitude to the Guardia di Finanza for their constant commitment to defending the rule of law and the safety of citizens. And he also recalled the importance of acting to «give meaning to the territory. This monument gives further meaning to this place.”

During the inauguration, General Arbore recalled the sacrifice and courage shown by the members of the Guardia di Finanza, underlining the importance of commemorating those who lost their lives both in times of war and peace. “This monument is a tangible symbol of the gratitude and respect due to these men and women.” The ceremony concluded with the blessing of the monument by Monsignor Luca Raimondi who attended with Monsignor Angelo Cairati. The authorities and the heads of the police forces then gathered in the Sala Stemmi in Palazzo Malinverni for a moment of celebration.
