Work begins on the new Sesto San Giovanni station

Construction work has begun for the demolition of the Sesto San Giovanni FS 1st May station.

The new stationwhich will be ready in two years and has been designed by Renzo Piano and designed by the Ottavio Di Blasi & Partners studio, will change the skyline of Sesto San Giovanni. It is, in fact, one bridge station with a walkway 89 meters long and 18 meters wide, suspended 14 meters above the tracks and its function will also be to connect the Sesto built with the Sesto which will be built from the urban regeneration of the former Falck areas.

The rectangular bridge deck will extend between two single-storey buildings in reinforced concrete and will connect Piazza I Maggio and the new square on the Falck side, with its large photovoltaic coverage in glass measuring 110 by 28 meters capable of powering the station. To unite the existing city, the former Falck areas and the City of Health and Research, in addition to the station’s high-level walkway, there will also be a pedestrian underpass.

Following the construction of the new station, the underground parking with 650 parking spacesa priority service for users of the City of Health and Research from Monday to Friday during the day, and for all citizens in the evening and on other days.

They will also come redevelop the bus station and the bike stationwith a unitary project together with the railway station and Piazza I Maggio.
