Trains and inconveniences, a combination that is repeated every day, almost. Today too, another morning of inconvenience for commuters from Como heading to Milan or Switzerland. Train 25510 (from MILAN CENTRALE 08.43 – CHIASSO 09.29) is late due to “infrastructure maintenance work, which the railway network manager is carrying out along the line, which imposes a reduced speed”, is the message that can be read on the Trenord website. There were also delays for another train, again on the same route connecting Chiasso – Como – Milan – Rho, due to “the prolonged stop of another train on the line”.
Meanwhile, another hot summer has begun for commuters from Como-Lecco who will be forced to replace trains with buses until the beginning of September. From last Sunday – 9 June – and until Sunday 8 September, to allow extraordinary maintenance work between the Albate and Molteno stations, the line service will be suspended, Trenord had warned in recent days. “The trips have been replaced with buses between Molteno and Como Camerlata”, furthermore, to move between Molteno and Lecco, travelers use the replacement buses for the S7 Milan-Molteno-Como line. The connection between Como Camerlata and Como San Giovanni remains guaranteed by the trains of the S11 Rho-Milan-Como San Giovanni-Chiasso line.
Furthermore, a strike has been proclaimed for Sunday 16 June by the UilTrasporti and Orsa unions which could have repercussions on Trenord’s Regional, Suburban, Airport and Long Distance services. Traffic at risk from 3am on Sunday 16 June to 2am on Monday 17.
There are no guarantee bands because the strike takes place on a public holiday. In the event of cancellation of airport service trains, buses will be set up without intermediate stops between: Milan Cadorna and Malpensa Airport for the Malpensa Express.
