LAWN – Yesterday afternoon the State Police arrested a robber in flagrante delicto.

The episode occurred yesterday around 4pm. The officers of the police station in Piazza del Duomo, they were alerted by a shopkeeper who had noticed some people running and screaming in via Luigi Muzzi.

The officers immediately went to the scene where a group of people had arranged themselves in a circle around a man. The operators proceeded to acquire information on what had happened, establishing that there had been an attempted robbery inside a grocery store on the street.

From the descriptions of the event collected by the witnesses and supported by the video surveillance images, it was ascertained that a man had arrived near the shop on board a moped and, leaving it running, had entered the premises with his helmet on his head, then, using a fridge bag he had with him, he had taken goods from inside the shop. At that point the owner of the shop ordered the man several times to pay for the goods, trying to block him from leaving but the man reacted with a violent push, causing the woman to fall to the ground. Her daughter intervened to help the owner and was violently pushed by the man.

The robber, a 40-year-old Italian, with a history of crimes against the person, threats and personal injury, was arrested for the crime of attempted aggravated robbery and associated with the prison “The Dogaia” of Prato.
