«PVarious institutions aimed at the good of the girls and young people of our city have flourished for years among the deserving Handmaids of the Sacred Heart. Now in the meeting of the 16th of the month. by unanimous consent of the various Steering Committees, a girls’ patronage was formed, thus bringing together the festive recreation center, the school of religion and work and the after-school program”. With these words The Diary of 20 June 1915 announced the birth of the Patronato Fanciulle (this is not a typo, it will only change its name in 2001), a place where girls could grow up and be educated in the light of Christian teaching. Today, with these words of ours, we must announce it closing after over a century of invaluable activity for the entire city of Imola and its surroundings. After the Covid years, in fact, difficulties emerged on several fronts, which gradually led the volunteers to reflect on the future: the Patronato will not reopen at the beginning of the next school year.
