Along the line traced by the first two announcements, Conte and Spreafico, the third new face of the GEAS roster for the 24/25 season is added: in the play spot she is signed Alessandra Orsili, coming from Virtus Bologna. A signature that follows the characteristics sought so far, i.e. Italian with experience in A1 and young with a lot of potential. Yes, because Orsili already has four seasons in the top flight and call-ups to the national team. An ideal profile for the construction of a rejuvenated and ambitious team that will have the intention of fighting for every goal, and Alessandra can only fit into these roles perfectly.
Born in 2001 in Fermo, weaned in basketball in the Marche region, where he began playing basketball in the Fe.Ba Civitanova Marche. It will be the same club that will make her debut in A2 in 2016 and already racking up 26 appearances in the first year. She moved to Lucca three years later, making the big leap into the higher category.
She spent two years in Tuscany, scoring in the second year almost 10 points on average which brought her a lot of spotlight, to the point of earning a call to the Liga Femenina de Baloncesto to the Porta XI Ensino, in the city of Lugo, Galicia. The Spanish move lasts only one year, given that in 2022 he signs with Virtus Bologna, the team with which he won the Italian Super Cup this year.
His career in the youth national teams is also long and successful: bronze at the U16 European Championships in 2017 and two golds, again in the continental event, in Bosnia (U18) and the Czech Republic (U20), both in 2019.
Orsili’s arrival was greeted thus by coach Zanotti: “Young and with a lot of experience, Alessandra is a talented player who must work on the role of point guard without distorting herself but with personality. I’m sure she will give us a great hand.”
Alessandra instead made a point of greeting all the GEAS public with the following words: “I am both happy and surprised to have had this opportunity in GEAS, considering the two sporting seasons of little visibility on the pitch. For me, the club clearly stands out for its high quality, expressed in the coach, in the value of its playing system and in the professionalism of the players who played there. I will bring all my energy and dedication to the pitch for the fans and for the team in general, I feel very motivated!”
