According to the reconstruction provided by the Armed Forces military officials, the man, taking advantage of citizens’ trust in members of the institutions, lured unsuspecting victims on buying and selling sites intending to sell valuable watches which he systematically had sent via courier before disappearing into thin air. without making the agreed payment. A Rolex Gmt Master and a Tudor Big Block with a total value of 18,000 euros were his latest loot, sent by a private citizen to whom, among other things, the fake marshal had made believe that one of the two aforementioned watches was from illicit and in relation to which, therefore, it would have initiated the necessary investigations.
But the victim, having sensed the scam, alerted the local Carabinieri Station Command in whose territory the package containing the luxury goods had been sent, thus allowing the military to identify the subject who was stopped just as he was preparing to collect the package from a courier. yet another package. During the search carried out at his home, located in Castel Volturno, a further Rolex was found, various mobile phones with cards registered to third parties and a PC from whose history numerous contacts for the sale of watches emerged.
Furthermore, just as the carabinieri were carrying out the aforementioned operations, calls were received from a Calabrian boy, also a victim of the same scam, who complained about the non-payment of a Rolex Submarine mod. “Hulk” worth 14,500 euros.
The man, who was already burdened by numerous police records for similar crimes, was arrested and placed under house arrest at the disposal of the competent judicial authority.
