ACIREALE (CATANIA) – The municipal council of Acireale voted by a large majority for a motion against the bill proposed by the Minister for Regional Affairs, the Northern League member Roberto Calderolion theDifferentiated autonomy.
The initiative bears the signature of the advisor to the advisor of the Democratic Party Francesco Fichera. Only three councilors voted against: Alessandro Coco (who strongly criticized the motion in the chamber) e Matteo Sapienza of the League and Giuseppe Ferlito (Brothers of Italy).
Also in favor of the dem motion Fabio Manciagli of the South calls the North and the civic groups that report to the mayor Roberto Barbagallo it’s at Nicola D’Agostinoregional parliamentarian of Forza Italia, a party that supports the project drawn up by Calderoli in Rome.
The mayor intervenes
The mayor does not intend to talk about a political case and – contacted by Live Sicilia – declared: “I am a mayor – explained Barbagallo – and for me it cannot be a question of political affiliation, the citizens elected me, I am the mayor of the people who elected me and I express myself as such”.
“I believe – he added – that it is first and foremost fundamental that i essential levels of performance must be identified and defined first. From an infrastructural point of view, the southern regions are clearly underdeveloped and do not have the same levels of performance compared to the northern regions and we are talking about essential services for citizens, hence the fear that the gap will increase exponentially”.
“This motion – he concludes – gives a mandate to the mayorwho probably won’t be able to intervene directly, but raises attention on an important topic for the future of our children and I hope that whoever was elected in the south thinks carefully”.
The Democratic Party
Satisfaction, meanwhile, among the Acesi Democrats. “Our party has always maintained that differentiated autonomy, as proposed, risks creating unacceptable disparities between the different areas of the country, penalizing the southern regions and the most fragile communities”. He declared it Francesco Licciardellosecretary of the Pd club of Acireale.
“I thank – he added – my fellow city councilors, of different political affiliations, for having allowed the approval of the motion with their vote. This vote adds a further expression of concern on the issue of differentiated autonomy and strengthens those who believe in a united and supportive Italy”.
