Opera, June 28th in Lucca “Puccini according to Muti”

Mazzi: “It will be an exceptional event”

“Puccini according to Muti”, the concert directed by the Maestro, was presented today in Rome, at the Ministry of Culture Riccardo Muti which will be held on Friday 28 June 2024 in Lucca, on the prestigious stage set up at the Historic Walls and included in the celebrations of Puccini’s centenary.

Maestro Muti will celebrate the genius of Giacomo PucciniItalian composer loved throughout the world, conducting the “Cherubini” Orchestra exceptionally formed, on the occasion of the twentieth anniversary of its foundation, by 120 musicians who will accompany the performances of the opera singers.

The event will be broadcast worldwide on Rai3 from 9.20 pm.

The press conference was attended by: the Undersecretary for Culture, Gianmarco Mazzi; the mayor of Lucca, Mario Pardini; the president of the Teatro del Giglio, Giorgio Angelo Lazzarini and the Director of Rai Cultura, Silvia Calandrelli.

The Ministry of Culture supports and enhances the Opera which represents an important tool for spreading our language. ‘Puccini according to Muti’ will be the central event of the Puccini celebrations – explained Undersecretary Mazzi – Maestro Riccardo Muti will conduct the best musicians trained, over the last twenty years, by the Cherubini Orchestra. An initiative that comes a few days after the event “The Great Italian Opera, a World Heritage Site” which was held at the Verona Arena and which achieved extraordinary public success with almost three million viewers”.

The collaboration between the Ministry of Culture and Rai Cultura is truly fruitful – underlined the Director of Rai Cultura, Silvia CalandrelliWe have the responsibility to bring beauty into the homes of Italians and ‘Puccini according to Muti’ is part of that order of collectible events that will remain in the history of our culture”.

The artists, chosen by Maestro Muti, are the sopranos Eleonora Buratto, Lydia Fridman, Mariangela Sicily and the tenors Luciano Ganci, Dmitry Korchak And Francesco Meli.

The arias that will be performed are: Symphonic Prelude – Un bel dì vedare from Madama Butterfly (soprano, Eleonora Buratto); Hidden harmony from Tosca (tenor, Luciano Ganci); What a cold little hand from La bohème (tenor, Dmitry Korchak); I lived on art from Tosca (soprano, Eleonora Buratto); Let her believe me from La fanciulla del West (tenor, Francesco Meli); Duet O soave fanciulla from La bohème (soprano Mariangela Sicilytenor Dmitry Korchak); Whence happy from La bohème (soprano, Mariangela Sicily); Without mother by Sister Angelica (soprano, Lydia Fridman); And the stars shone from Tosca (tenor, Luciano Ganci); You who are surrounded by gel by Turandot (soprano, Eleonora Buratto); Intermezzo from Manon Lescaut; Fourth Act from Manon Lescaut (soprano Lydia Fridmantenor Francesco Meli).

The Concert is organized by the Promoting Committee of the Puccini Celebrations, established by the Presidency of the Council in 2022, in participation with the Municipality of Lucca and the Teatro del Giglio and in collaboration with Rai Cultura, SIAE, LuccaSummerFestival and “D’Alessandro e Galli”.
