TICKET IN VENICE, THE COMMITTEES: “IT’S A FAILURE”
The entrance ticket? It causes heavy damage to the city, because it does not contain or manage tourist flows, and at the same time it affects people’s privacy. It even risks proving unconstitutional, to the point that the Privacy Guarantor has opened an investigation.
Around twenty committees and associations in Venice have denounced it and are asking for it to be eliminated. Also because the entrance fee would seriously risk transforming the city into a huge open-air museum.
Without, in fact, being able to regulate tourist flows in a city that is now totally dominated by tourists: of the 30 million arrivals per year, but also of the 7 thousand tourist locations present in the historic center alone. An issue on which it is urgent to intervene.
At the same time the Administration would have completely set aside other fundamental issues for the survival of the city: social issues, but also housing, perhaps the most important issue on which to intervene.
For this reason, on Saturday 15 June, committees and associations will meet in the fish shop in Rialto to propose a whole series of solutions to revitalize the city.
