SULMONA (AQ) – Another intervention, another seizure and a new arrest by the station police. The anti-drug activity undertaken by the military of the town of Peligna does not stop, as it has been no longer giving drug dealers any breathing space. Yesterday evening, during a patrol along a peripheral street of the city, the operators decided to check a former factory undergoing bankruptcy proceedings, the door of which was open. Inside there were two men, one of whom was the tenant and user of some rooms in the building equipped as a “music room”, rented out by the bankruptcy trustee who intervened at his time. A quick check, or rather a “sniff”, was enough for the police to understand that gusts of the acrid smell typical of marijuana plants were coming from the premises.
Hence the immediate search of both those arrested and of all the premises which resulted in the 32-year-old tenant being available. The man who was in the company of the latter, found in possession of a modest quantity of marijuana, was immediately released and for this reason reported to the L’Aquila Prefecture. The young tenant of the premises, however, was detained and subjected to a more thorough search, which was then extended to the private home. The operating soldiers, considering the complexity of the operations, requested and obtained support from their colleagues in the company command.
As a result of the anti-drug activity, in some rooms of the old factory, not reconsidered in the rental contract, but arbitrarily occupied by the 32-year-old, actual small greenhouses were found, complete with humidifiers and aerators, used for cultivation of cannabis. Inside them, the seedlings still in the vegetation phase.
In all, the military was able to seize 10 marijuana plants measuring between 20 and 100 centimeters in height, as well as everything necessary to care for and fertilize them. Also found and seized 84 gr. of already dried “grass” and almost 55 gr. of cocaine divided into single doses. Also seized were a couple of grams of hashish and the cash sum of around 200 euros, found during the house search of the arrested person.
Once the anti-drug operation was concluded, which continued throughout the night, the 32-year-old, with a passion for music, but not only that, was arrested in flagrante delicto for illicit production and possession of narcotic substances. A detailed report on the work of the Carabinieri arrived on the desk of the prosecutor on duty at the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Sulmona who took over the coordination of the investigations still underway.
In the next few hours, the validation hearing will be scheduled before the investigating judge of the Sulmona court, who will decide on the fate of the arrested person who has, in the meantime, been transferred to prison in Sulmona.
