Athletics Frascati, Fattorossi breaks down the 50 second “wall” in Foligno: “Now the Italian championships”

Frascati (Rm) – Last week the “Quintana” meeting was held in Foligno, an Umbrian town in the province of Perugia which among other things has a track built by the Frascatan architect Roberto Buccione. There was no shortage of positive results for the Atletica Frascati team and among these there was yet another improvement recorded by Nicolò Fattorossi who in the 400 managed to break down the 50 second “wall” for the first time, finishing in 49.94, first among the students and seventh overall. “It had been a goal for some time and I knew I could achieve it, given that even recently in Rieti and Colleferro I had come close despite the wind disturbance – says the young athlete who will turn 17 on August 23rd – On Saturday I will do another 400m race at Cecchignola to better prepare for the Italian Junior Championships which will be held in Molfetta from 5th to 7th July. It will be my first Italian outdoor championship after the indoor one I did in February in which I didn’t arrive at my best from a physical point of view and in which I placed 11th. At the end of June in Rieti, however, there will be the regional championships in Rieti”. Fattorossi is a pure product of Atletica Frascati: “I started playing this sport in this club in 2015, training first with Flavia Di Paola and then with her sister Giorgia. I grew a lot thanks to them, becoming passionate about both the 400m hurdles and the 400m hurdles, without much preference for one specialty or the other.”
Returning to the Foligno race, Gloria Kabangu’s star shone again as she won the 400 with a time of 54.28 ahead of her teammate Chiara Padoan (56.67). Kabangu thus achieved the minimum time for qualifying for the world championships in the 400m after having done the same in the 800m: in reality she had already obtained it in an indoor test in January, but that of Foligno is the best outdoor performance of the season, very close to last season’s staff (54.12). In the men’s 100, Alessandro Smanio did not improve and closed at 10.94, 15th among the Absolutes, while in the double lap both Christian Nardi lowered his personal best even if only slightly (he dropped to 1.55.18, placing second among the Students). and Flaminia Caruso (2.13.80 and also second among the students). In 2000 Cadette Viktoria Polonska obtained the minimum participation time for the Italian championships, finishing in 6.46.20 and finishing in second place.
Finally, in the coming weekend there is a double test in Rome between the Cecchignola (Saturday with the “Bravin” trophy, a national meeting reserved for the Cadet and Boys categories) and at the Caracalla spa (Sunday with the final of the Boys club championship where Atletica Frascati is in the final with the men’s team). These will be the last events of the youth activity which will then resume in September.
