two days dedicated to LGBTQIA+ culture at Bisceglie Castle

Two “disturbing” days dedicated to culture and LGBTQIA+ rights: on 15 and 16 June, the Bisceglie Castle will host “Si Queer Ca Sind”, an event organized by the URCA Association to celebrate diversity through engaging and inclusive activities for all ages.

It begins on Saturday 15 June, at 7.30 pm, with the inauguration of the photographic exhibition “Story of a Woman”, curated by Gildo Molinari, an Apulian photographer born in 1988, originally from Santeramo in Colle and now based in Luxembourg. A story that explores the life and transformation of Carla Pianetti, a woman from southern Italy who at 60, after a long search for her true inner self, decided to undertake a gender transition journey. Afterwards, Carla will be the one to dialogue with the public, telling her story and stimulating a reflection on diversity and the need for a vision of society free from gender stereotypes.

On Sunday we start in the morning, at 10.30 am, with a workshop for children on the topic of gender dysphoria. The workshop, conducted by the illustrator Lucrezia Mastrapasqua and intended for children aged 6 to 13, will start with the reading of the book “Max and Giulia” (La Margherita Edizioni), illustrated by Elena Pensiero and written by Fulvia Degl’Innocenti, and will continue with an interactive game through which to create a splendid themed illustration (access with reservation required on the number: 3496761649).

Also on Sunday 16 June, at 5pm, a casual and open dialogue will take place with Michele Lopane, psychiatrist and psychotherapist, entitled “Queerness – To overcome sexual homologation”. It will be an opportunity for you to participate in a group to raise personal awareness of your own erotic dimension, sharing personal experiences with the aim of developing a vision less linked to the introjects of sex, learning to deal with sexuality without patriarchal and sexophobic legacies. When the group is set up, the “rules” will be explained in order to be able to participate as best as possible and to protect everyone.

The event will close at 8.30 pm with the panel “You are what you are – Between violence and identity”: a conversation between Maria Anna Di Gioia, teacher in upper secondary school, author of the book “How is water? Recognizing the sea invisible of the patriarchate” (Settenove editions), and Miriam Cosmai of Zaccheo Puglia, a project born in 2019 to promote an inclusive ecumenical Christian community.

“Si Queer Ca Sind” is organized by the URCA Association in collaboration with Cea-ZonaEffe and Zaccheo Puglia.
