An orange weather alert has been issued for thunderstorms in Milan: the measure will come into effect at 6pm today and will last until 6am tomorrow.
Today, Tuesday 11 June, the Natural Risk Monitoring Functional Center of the Lombardy Region has issued an orange warning for risk of thunderstorms. It was then foreseen another yellow for hydrogeological risk. Both will start from 6pm today and will last until 6am tomorrow morning, Wednesday 12 June.
In fact, from today’s afternoon and evening, scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected throughout Lombardy in the pre-Alpine areas and the western plains which will then pass through the central and eastern ones. They could fall between the 40 and 70 millimeters in twelve hours.
She was summoned to the Milanese capital a meeting of the local crisis unit of the Municipality of Milan which will see the participation of the Civil Protection Authority and the Directorates involved and which will have the task of examining the situation and evaluating actions. The Civil Protection invited the population, during the weather alert, not to stay in the areas at risk of flooding of the two rivers and near the underpasses.

He also advised not to stop under or near trees and near construction site scaffolding, outdoor areas and tents: “It is important to ensure the safety of objects and vases on balconies and of all artefacts that can be moved by the weather. It is also important to pay attention to weather phenomena during outdoor events, in order to prevent dangerous situations“.
In addition to Milan, a yellow warning has been issued for the risk of thunderstorms in the area Varesine lakes and pre-Alps, Lario and Western Prealps, Bergamo Orobie, Lakes and Eastern Prealps, Eastern High Plains, Central-Eastern Lower Plain, Eastern Lowland And Pavia Apennines. An orange warning for thunderstorms was instead issued Milan Plumbing Hub, Central Plain, Western Lower Plains, Central Western Lower Plain.
The yellow alert for hydrogeological risk is expected Bergamo Orobie, Lakes and Eastern Prealps, Milan Plumbing Hub.
