The Mille Miglia has arrived in Turin

The historic race finally arrived in the Piedmontese capital yesterday. And he will leave Turin today for the new stage, the second of the competition. A race welcomed by thousands of Turin residents.

A Piedmontese Mille Miglia

The cars, as per tradition, left Brescia yesterday morning. The first checkpoint was Bergamo, where the first stamp check was carried out on all participating cars. Leaving Bergamo, the historic cars reached the center of Novara passing through the Coccia Theater and the Silvio Piola Stadium. The third passage was Vercelli, where the cars crossed the city center parading in front of the Basilica of Sant’Andrea, the longest-lived example of Piedmontese Gothic architecture. Finally the first stage ended in Settimo Torinese.

Once the race concluded in Settimo, the cars moved to Turin for the catwalk, escorted by the Local Police. Right in the Piedmontese capital, the cars paraded through the main streets of the city centre, starting from Via Roma, Piazza Castello and Piazza San Carlo, where a warm audience was waiting for them, present in large numbers despite the rain. Furthermore, for the occasion, yesterday evening the Mole Antonelliana was lit up in red, in memory and homage to the Red Arrow. Today’s new stage of the race, which starts from Turin and will arrive in Lucca.

Among the participants we also remember the rally champion Miki Biasion, winner of some championships between the 80s and 90s with the Lancia Delta Martini. Biasion himself drives a 1951 Lancia Aurelia B20 GT and is also joined by the new Lancia Ypsilon, as a Lancia testimonial, as a support car during the entire race.
