Rome, 12 June 2024 – Everything is ready in Sardinia for the two classic annual events with Olympic wrestling and beach wrestling, tournaments organized by the Polisportiva Athlon Sassari and FIJLKAM which will take place in Sassari and Stintino over the coming weekend.

The International City of Sassari Tournament, now in its 29th edition, is dedicated to U20 and Senior male and female wrestlers and will take place on Friday 14th and Saturday 15th at the PalaSantoru in Via Rizzeddu. With 21 participating nations, in addition to Italy, several Italian clubs will also participate, from the Lotta Club Seggiano to Borgo Prati in Rome.

The Italian national team will present itself with a team made up of young athletes, who will participate in both the U20 (Friday) and Senior (Saturday) competitions.

Here are the players called up: Carmine Caiazza, Pasquale Liuzzi, Danny Lubrano, Daniele Gubbiotti, Raul Caso, Gabriele Niccolini, Antonino Milone, Vassilj Guccini and Martino Piliero in the men’s freestyle; Davide Zilio, Federico Raccagni, Giulio Bellon and Riccardo Bufis for Greco-Roman; Elisa Duce, Asia Craparotta, Elena Nicolodi, Fabiana Dattilo and Anna Iodice for the women’s freestyle.

Accompanying them will be the technicians Pietro Piscitelli, Igor Nencioni, Massimiliano Saglietti and Emmanuele Rinella.

On Sunday, however, there will be space for beach wrestling with Sardinia Beach Wrestling, now in its 19th edition. At La Pelosa beach in Stintino, the start is scheduled from 10:30. The tournament is dedicated to the U17, U20 and Senior classes.
