Rome, 11 June. (askanews) -Jerry Lewis, Diane Keaton, Jennifer Lopez. Over 50 shots of actors, alongside ordinary people immortalized in their daily lives, in the “Dream Role” exhibition by Peter Chelsom, at the Fortino Leopoldo I in Forte dei Marmi. For the first time, photographs by the British director of comedies such as “Shall We Dance” and “Serendipity” are exhibited. The exhibition – curated by Beatrice Audrito – will be open to the public (free entry) from 22 June to 14 July. A journey into the life and visions of the artist who in his 35-year career in cinema has never abandoned photography, his first passion. Many of the shots were taken on set and tell the behind-the-scenes story of his work with great actors. But for the director, cinema and photography are very close. “At the beginning of my career as a director I realized that there was no boundary between my photography and my films, it’s as if one feeds the other, photos tell stories as much as films.” “My goal as a director is to guide an actor to the role he is playing, and as a photographer it is to capture ordinary people in the role that life has assigned to them.” From his youthful production, to his years in Hollywood, the exhibition has a part dedicated to Forte dei Marmi, where he filmed “Security” in 2021 with Marco d’Amore, Fabrizio Bentivoglio and Maya Sansa. Finally, the “Dream Role” section: “The place where I invite an actor or actress to recreate the role of dreams”. Gary Oldman was also among those who volunteered.
