BUSTO ARSIZIO – Thanks to art, Anffas enters into osmosis with the outside world. Great satisfaction at the Busto headquarters in Anffas, where it ended on 10 June the art and culture course which involved several special guests from the facility in via Piombina and beyond.

The initiative

In the presence ofcouncilor for social services of the Municipality of Busto Arsizio Paola Reguzzonieducators and volunteers illustrated the extraordinary results obtained in this new edition of ainitiative aimed at developing interaction, communication and talent of children and adults who, after having learned various artistic techniques with highly qualified personnel, were able to put on canvas all the colours, emotions and memories kept in their hearts.

Open up to the outside world and let it in

The importance of the course “I am an artist”, organized by the Anffas of Busto Arsizio with the collaboration of the Piatti Foundationlies in the fact that it is not a path dedicated only to the people who live within the structure, as he explains the vice-president of Anffas Laura Bignamiformer senator and mediator of the Feuerstein method: «We want to make local families understand that an initiative like this is dedicated to all those who live with intellectual or relational disabilities and neurodevelopmental disorders, even if they are not guests of our office. Our goal is to open ourselves to the outside world and, at the same time, to ensure that it can enter, creating a continuous exchange, a positive and enriching “contamination” for both parties”. The users are partly from the Anffas accommodation community in via Piombina and partly responded from Insiemeperfareretea network of local associations.

The results

Thanks to the expertise of the educators (coordinated by Anna Randipsychomotor therapist from the Arcobaleno Center in Gallarate, with the art therapist Elena Mihailo), And with the help of a professional artist (Laura Piacquadio of Dequoration Legnano), the course participants created paintings, collages and mixed media works, using colours, brushes, fabrics and woolen threadsthus giving vent to one’s imagination: there were many small, great masterpieces, expressive and rich in nuances, unique just like the artists who created them. For those who wish, it is already possible to register for the next course by writing to [email protected].

Reguzzoni: «we are studying the way to exhibit the works»

Councilor Reguzzoni (in the picture) had the opportunity to see first-hand the results of this second edition of “I am an artist”: «I am always in favor of any initiative that supports the creation of a support network for these children, bringing the external world into theirs, but above all theirs into the external world. I have come to appreciate their journey and, Compared to last year, improvements can be seen also for the maintenance of the participants. I am committed, in addition to continuing on this path, to giving visibility to their works. We are therefore studying the best way to display them so that all citizens can admire them and that they can feel gratified by the work they have done. I would do it for all my fellow citizens, but doubly so for the special ones.”
