The season of the Youth Sector has definitively ended BasketBall Gallaratewhich closes 2023/2024 with great results and victories.
Results of a work in continuous development that grows year after year and which has involved practically all the categories of the white and blue club, with a small parenthesis also in the Sempione HUB world, with the 2012 group. To analyze everything we involved the coach of Under 17 group, Cristiano Maino.
Coach, let’s start from the victory of the 2012 HUB group which triumphed at the Memorial Orrigoni, beating Olimpia Milano in the semi-final and Virtus Bologna in the final. How much satisfaction for this goal achieved?
“In mini-basketball, results count what they count, because they are not the main objective, but certainly the victory of such an important trophy certifies once again the quality of the work we are carrying out. More and more competitive players are coming and will come from mini-basketball, this is evidence and can only leave us satisfied.”
From Orrigoni to another trophy won, the 7th edition of the Memorial Gianni Asti…
“First of all I want to congratulate my friend Andrea Mai for the organisation. Triumphing in such a prestigious tournament is certainly a source of pride for us, I attended all our matches and the semi-final against Trento expressed the truly high level of the competition. Seeing BBG’s name written in the roll of honor of this tournament is a pride but it is not a coincidence. The Under 14 team experienced a season of ups and downs but the mistakes were useful to understand where we had made mistakes and where to improve and so it was. Coach Damaso is doing a great job with the boys and the third place in Lombardy in the championship and the victory of this tournament are direct demonstration of the excellent work done”.
Another trophy you won was the Lombardy Cup, a result that concerns you personally given that you personally lead the group…
“The Lombardy Cup won told us that the quantity and quality of the work we are doing in the gym pays off and is what has allowed us to make all the improvements that have been seen in this group. A goal that allows us to participate in the Under 19 Eccellenza championship next year, which was the last championship we missed playing and which we achieved. An extraordinary achievement because it is absolutely not taken for granted, easy or for everyone, to get to play in all the Eccellenza championships having won them on the field”.
Staying on the Under 19 theme, let’s talk about the path taken by coach Allegretti’s boys, who arrived one step away from the national final phase, playing the Interzone phase, a historic result for the club…
“For this year’s level we did our own. The championship included teams of very different levels, even in the Interzone phase it was like this: in the first round we faced an opponent (Rodighium Basket) inferior to us and we obtained a good victory, while in the second round we found a very strong with which we remained in the game especially in the first half. In the end the values came out but we can only be satisfied with the path taken by the boys and the work of coach Allegretti who, in his first year on the bench, demonstrated that he has great technical and human qualities. We will have the Under 19 Excellence for the first time but this step comes at the right time for our club, because there is less and less separation between the Youth Sector and the First Teams of the Sempione HUB, also thanks to the continuous and constant dialogue between me, Marco Allegretti and Alberto Mazzetti, with the aim that our boys increasingly feed the Senior teams, (in this case Gallarate and Casorate) giving ever greater impetus to the HUB project”.
Now a very intense summer begins, especially in terms of recruiting, right?
“Absolutely yes. This will be the first summer of the new reform that abolishes the sporting restriction, a rule that changes the rules of the game and for this there will be a lot of work to do. We launched the Challenge Your Self recruitment campaign a few weeks ago, an initiative that has already attracted over 50 registrations. We will work mainly in an area of 15-20 km, very linked to our territory. To this, we add the fact that we are working to offer young people arriving from abroad a guesthouse that can make travel easier and this is certainly a fundamental step for the growth and development of our Youth Sector”.
