8 ended up in handcuffs in Turin on charges of extortion, kidnapping, personal injury and threats aggravated by mafia methods: among them also the “king of the Christmas markets” Francesco Ferrara and the Juventus ultra Giacomo Lo Surdo . According to the accusation, the entrepreneur Ferrara intimidated employees and former collaborators.

8 people were arrested for extortion, kidnapping, private violence, possession and possession of a common firearm and personal injury aggravated by mafia methods. The Turin agents carried out a precautionary custody order issued by the investigating judge at the Court of Turin at the request of the District Anti-Mafia Directorate. Among the people who ended up in handcuffs was also the “king of the Christmas markets”the 48 year old Francesco Ferraraand the Juventus ultra Giacomo Lo Surdo. The 8 people in question were arrested this morning by the police with the accusation of having links with mafia-type organized crime and of having threatened creditors, debtors and often even collaborators with highly intimidating methods.

According to what was found through investigations, Ferrara would have exerted strong pressure on creditors and debtors with the protection of top exponents of mafia-type organized crime. The threats often culminated in violence or acts aimed at intimidating the victims to avoid reporting or consequences related to the crimes committed.

One of the most sensational episodes would have been committed against a former collaborator who had had the audacity to request through lawyers the payment of 20 thousand euros in commissions never received for the activity carried out. A real ambush was organized against him to force him to give up legal action.

On that occasion, the victim had been beaten and threatened with a rope around his neck. According to the prosecution, Ferrara was not the only one to operate in this way. The entrepreneur had already become known to the news in 2019, when his presence at Cioccolatò in Turin had aroused more than one curiosity. The man had even said in an interview with Corriere Torino that he had created “several venues in the gastronomic branch” for 6 million euros with 150 employees.

His path in the world of entrepreneurship, again according to what Ferrara told the media, began in 2014 with the opening of Amsterdam Chips, a business whose first turnover had reached almost 5 million.

Now, however, the relationship with the employees has come under the magnifying glass of prosecutor Manuela Pedrotta. The investigations would have brought to light threats and highly intimidating methods towards collaborators, creditors and debtors. In the order signed by the investigating judge Giorgia De Palma following the investigation conducted by the Sisco of the Turin police headquarters, the names of a Juventus ultra also appear, already arrested in the Minotauro operation aimed at dismantling the ‘ndrangheta network in the Turin area, and other subjects linked to organized crime.

Lo Surdo had ended up in handcuffs in the Minotauro maxi-operation which had led to prison 156 people including affiliates, followers and external competitors of the ‘Ndrangheta linked to Turin. Antonio Masotina, 64, Francesco Onofrio and Romeo Rocco Natale were also arrested together with him.
