Mirafiori, on 12 June Turin returns to the streets for the car

On Wednesday 12 June, Turin will once again mobilize for Mirafiori and the automotive industry. There will be an eight-hour demonstration from 9am to 5pm: the delegates and workers will meet in front of Palazzo di Città, where a stage will be set up from which experts from the auto sector, delegates and trade unionists will speak. The mayor Stefano Lo Russo and the governor of Piedmont Alberto Cirio will also participate in the demonstration.

«The assignment of the production of the 500 hybrid is an important step, but it is not enough for the relaunch of Mirafiori. We are asking for an additional model, not a different engine. We also want to focus on the future of the employees, many of them will speak on Wednesday. We also need hiring,” he explains Edi Lazzi, general secretary of the Turin Fiom.

«We have a project for Turin and we continue to support it. We want
something else for the related industries and we want generational change. The 500 hybrid is
a guarantee, but our project is broader. We got a
result, but it is not enough”, he underlines Luigi Paone, general secretary of the Turin Uilm.

«In continuity with the demonstration of 12 April when the automotive strike was proclaimed, we want to continue to keep attention high on the sector and on Turin. The dispute related to car production is an important part of our economy. We have chosen a different way to involve the whole city by going into the merits of the problems” he adds Rocco Cutrì, number one of the Turin Fim.
