“In Action’s certainly not satisfactory data in this European election round, there is the extraordinary Lucanian result which sees the party just under 10%. A figure that clearly exceeds the percentage recorded by the party in the recent regional elections and is, once again, the highest regional figure for Action. Marcello Pittella, the highest voted Action member at a national level, contributed significantly to this result. I want to express my heartfelt thanks to Pittella for this result which makes him a leader with a national profile, and for having carried out an electoral campaign with generosity and a spirit of service, in an extremely polarized political context and in which the two main parties of the center-right and center-left have catalyzed media attention and public debate. The leadership of Marcello Pittella represents an extraordinary resource for Italian reformists and from which we must start again today, to build that moderate and republican political space that is needed by the country and by those who do not want to give in to the derby between Meloni and Schlein.” Donato Pessolano, regional secretary of Azione Basilicata.
