Forlì, 10 June 2024 – The count of Europeansin the city, reports victory numbers of center-left in the first round. The three ‘political’ lists of the coalition are in fact al 49.3%, to which the RinnoviAmo Forlì civic list should be added. The administrativeas is often said, have a different logic, other factors may come into play, including local candidates as well as the possibility of voting separately between the aspiring mayor and the parties.
However the candidate for mayor Graziano Rinaldini starts from a strong base of the citizen’s result PD (36.5%) but also of the local confirmation of the national exploit of Green Left Alliance (6.1%). The 5 Star Movement it is above (6.7%) but it is the most painful figure in the competition. Avs could even grow in the administrative elections if it manages to also draw from Pace Terra Dignità, Michele Santoro’s list which achieved 2% in the city (19 preferences for the former principal of the artistic ‘Canova’ Electra Stamboulis; in that total, probably, there are also the votes of Vito Botticella, candidate for mayor for the Italian Communist Party).
The centre-right instead it obtained a political vote of 41.8%. Party leader is obviously Brothers of Italy with 27.9%, second list in the city. They contribute to the result Forza Italia (7.9%, but the stated goal was 10%) e League (6%; over 900, out of just over 3 thousand votes, the preferences in the city for General Roberto Vannacci).
Speaking of Europeans: the regional coordinator of the Azzurri Rosaria Tassinari he obtained 1,148 preferences in the city (almost three times as many as deputy prime minister Antonio Tajani) but ‘only’ 5,393 in total in the entire north-east constituency: a fifth place which depended on the difficulty of collecting votes in other regions. Bruno Moleanational president of Aics, obtained 216 personal votes, third in the list at municipal level, but last in the extended constituency with 690. Third Forlì in the running was Giacomo Zattini for the 5 Star Movement: 565 votes in the Municipality, 4,444 in the north-east, fifth of its votes. None of them will be elected in Strasbourg.
What the Europeans do not photograph is the data from the civic lists. Or rather: the only clue may be the vote for centrist parties: United States of Europe (supported by Matteo Renzi’s Italia Viva and Emma Bonino’s +Europa, at 3.1%) e Action of Carlo Calenda (2.7%) amount to 5.8%. Forlì Change, Zattini’s civic body, obtained 10.8% in 2019 and has the declared objective of obtaining consensus even from those who traditionally do not vote for the centre-right. If it is true that those parties openly support Zattini (and are nominating Leonardo Gallozzi, local secretary of Italia Viva, and Sara Samorì for Action in the civic office), there is however ‘competition’ from RinnoviAmo Forlì, supported by some members who did not support the local turn to the right. Like Massimo Marchi, who is the only outgoing city councilor from Matteo Renzi’s party.
The center-right must also watch out for the result Maria Ileana Acqua di ContiamoCi, a list that has expressed critical positions on the Covid-19 emergency: it could gnaw something at the right-wing parties. Votes that probably converge on individual candidates in the European elections. Or on the Libertà list of the Sicilian leader Cateno De Luca which was also supported by some anti-system movements. If that were the case, however, it would only be 0.7%. A few hours and then the verdict will come.
