The visual designer and illustrator Massimiliano Aurelio died in Milan at the age of 43. The news of his passing was given by “Vita” magazine, of which he has written many covers in recent years. Born in Taranto on 24 August 1980, after studying art and illustration at the IED in Rome, Aurelio came to Milan to work as an art director in the advertising field. However, illustrating has always been his passion, which is why, in 2012, he became a full-time illustrator. And he was one of the most refined illustrators, with a clear sign, a little retro and, at the same time, a little French. It is not for nothing that one of the glossiest magazines in the world, “Monocle”, has entrusted its cover to him more than once. His imagery has always been striking for its light-heartedness: illustrations of distant worlds, sudden loves, joy of living. He has been very active in the editorial field at a national and international level, collaborating with Mondadori, Il Sole24ore, “The Guardian”, “Rolling Stone”, “Wired” and the Gedi group, in particular for Repubblica Salute, Green&Blue, Gusto and Affari&Finanza. Recently Massimiliano Aurelio had exhibited one of his illustrations at Casa Testori, depicting the famous character Maria Brasca.
