10:22:42 CASERTA. The training of the first 30 local operators and company birth centers and the accredited private sector of the maternal and child network of the ASL Caserta for the dissemination of good practices for the support, promotion and protection of breastfeeding ended yesterday.
The initiative, promoted and implemented by the company working group PL 11 The first thousand days of life – PRP (2020-2025), saw the enthusiastic participation of the operators involved in the three days of theoretical and practical-experiential training under the guidance of prominent and authoritative trainers in the field, Prof. Riccardo Davanzo, IRCCS pediatrician-neonatologist, Burlo Garofolo, Trieste and President of the Table interdisciplinary operational technician for the promotion of Breastfeeding established by the Ministry of Health and Dr. Enrica Causin, IBCLC pediatric nurse, teacher of UNICEF Breastfeeding courses and Problem Based Learning (PBL) methodology, teacher of Biological Nurturing courses.
The course aimed to increase not only the knowledge and skills of operators in the light of updated scientific evidence, but also the communicative attitude of operators in conveying scientifically based information to pregnant women and new mothers, placing emphasis on institutional duty of the professional figures who gravitate in this phase of life to support women and families in a conscious health choice to avoid falling back into blaming attitudes and to set up the conditions necessary to create empowerment in the population.
The practical experiential sessions also saw the involvement of users, future parents participating in the Birth Support Courses and hospitalized mother and newborn dyads, who received during the two information sessions useful ideas for consciously managing the feeding of the little ones . A drop, that of staff training, which could be lost in a sea if not linked to a whole series of actions that we intend to carry out but, just like every drop of breast milk, precious for activating virtuous practices, nourishing awareness, relationships and networking.
A precious opportunity for operators to re-know each other, each in the specificity of their own expertise, like elastic bands, each with their own color, capable of binding themselves, making space, welcoming and containing, retying threads to widen the network. Thanks to the Company Management and the Free Program 11 working group “The first 1000 days of life” who planned and implemented the initiative, to the Training UOC and to the Gynecology, Obstetrics and Paediatrics and Neonatology UOCs of the Moscati PO in Aversa who hosted the event, to the sensitivity of the operational units and local and hospital services who favored the participation of the staff and the students who got involved.
