Fratelli d’Italia flies to 30.44% in Piedmont at the European Championships: a five-fold growth in the region compared to the result (6%) of 2019, and more than double in the city of Turin (22%) in comparison with the Municipal elections of 2021 (10.47%). The Democratic Party is the second most voted party in Piedmont: 22.95%, down one point compared to the 2019 European elections; the dem decline is strongest in Turin, where however it remains the first party, at 29.84%: five years ago in the European elections it had obtained 33.47%, but there is a recovery of more than one point compared to the municipal elections of October 2021 (28.56%). In Piedmont the League collapses, going from 37.1% in 2019 to 10.30%, Forza Italia rises to 9.9%, compared to 9.1% five years ago; M5s loses more than 5 points and is at 8%, while Avs reaches 7.52%. In Turin the most voted is Giorgia Meloni: 20,582 preferences, Cecilia Strada gets 14,416, Ilaria Salis with 11,178 votes drags Avs to 11.71% in the city, third party after FdI and Pd; for Vannacci the votes in the Piedmontese capital are 6,288. For the Regionals vote – counting will start at 2pm – no surprises are expected.

So say the exit polls which give the outgoing president Alberto Cirio, deputy national secretary of Forza Italia, with a very large advantage over the center-left candidate Gianna Pentenero: the gap is between 50% and 54%, for the challenger 34% – 38%; Sarah Disabato (M5s) 7-9%, Francesca Frediani of Piemonte Popolare 1.5%-3.5%. In 2019 Alberto Cirio won with 49.9%, while Sergio Chiamparino, candidate of the centre-left, stopped at 35.8%.
