Polling stations closed, turnout at 11pm in the province: municipal 61.95%, European 58.84%

CREMONA – The 2024 election round has ended. In the province of Cremona, 86 municipalities were called to the polls from 3pm to 11pm yesterday and from 7am to 11pm today, the time at which the polling stations were closed for both the administrative and European elections. The final voter turnout figure in the province of Cremona was 61.95%, compared to 69.40% in the 2019 session. In the city, 58.73% of voters went to the polls (in 2019 they were 67.19%). Casalmaggiore confirms, with the latest survey, that it was one of the municipalities with the lowest turnout in the entire province: 57.49%. Even now, the municipality that holds the record for voter turnout is Castel Gabbiano, with 76.75%, while the one with the lowest number of voters voting is (once again) Ricengo, with the 53.59%.

As regards the elections of the 76 Italians who will occupy the same number of seats in the European Parliament, the province of Cremona recorded a turnout of 58.84% at 11pm, compared to the 68.65% recorded at the same time in the 2019 session. In Cremona city the turnout figure was 60.27%, when in 2019 it was 67.14%. The municipality that saw the most voters go to the polls in the province was Spineda with the 76.24%, while the most abstentionist was San Daniele Po, which recorded the 42.19%. The overall figure in Italy was 49.50%, when in 2019 it was 56.09%. From the turnout data, a curious result stands out: in many municipalities called to the polls for the local elections, the turnout was higher for the European elections. The counting of the latter will take place during the night.
