European elections. The vote for the renewal of the European Parliament took place last night: FdI and PD are driving; all the data can be found here. In the province of Monza and Brianza turnout is above the national average (49.9%): out of a total of 695,544 voters went to the polls 376,056 people (54.07%). At the moment they appear to be there 9,122 null ballots, 3,526 blank ballots and 22 contested.
How the parties went
Looking at the data from Monza and Brianza the gap between FdI and PD is widening: in our province Giorgia Meloni’s party is al 31.22% with a total of 113 thousand votes; the PD with 83 thousand votes is at 22.9. Exceeds 11% Forza Italia with 40 thousand votes and more League with 38 thousand (10.5%). Good at local level too AVS with over 7% (25 thousand votes): the excellent result could be the Ilaria Salis effect, who according to initial data, should have been elected to the European Parliament. Below the national figure there is the 5 Star Movement which is at 6.03% with 21 thousand votes. In Monza and Brianza Azione surpasses Italia Viva: Calenda’s party is at 4.35% with almost 16 thousand votes; that of Renzi-Bonino stops at 3.89 with around 14 thousand votes.
Cateno De Luca’s Libertà is well below expectations (who had run for the Monza by-elections and was therefore a known face), which also saw a local candidacy, that of the former Monza councilor Desiree Merlini: with 2716 votes she is at 0.75%. She does better than De Luca’s team, Peace Earth Dignity (6000 votes, it’s 1.7%). You also vote for Popular alternative (1103 votes) e Rassemblement valdôtain (506).
