The president of the Piedmont Region and center-right candidate for reconfirmation, Alberto Cirio, voted today at 11 in Alba, in the province of Cuneo. Cirio voted in seat number 4 in the headquarters of a musical institute accompanied by his wife Sara, his daughter Carolina and his son Emanuele. Yesterday he voted for the Democratic Party’s challenger, Gianna Pentenero.

A strange accident occurred this morning at Torrazza Piedmont (province of Turin) where people also vote for the municipal elections. Incident which led to the temporary suspension of voting operations in section number 3 after a voter was given an already filled-in ballot. Once the woman opened the card, she found the cross already affixed to the symbol of one of the lists, and the preference already expressed for a councilor candidate. At that point you informed the scrutineers and the polling station president.

All necessary checks are underway. The outgoing mayor and the soldiers of the Guardia di Finanza intervened on site. While awaiting the outcome of the checks, hypotheses are being put forward as to what happened. The main one concerns an episode that happened a few minutes earlier, when another voter was accidentally given two blue ballots.

One was returned to the scrutineers and may have been given to the next voter. In this case it would have been a double human error. The polling station president ordered the recount of the ballots and then the electoral commission will evaluate how to proceed.
