Condolences in the communities of Lariano and Velletri, and in that of Paliano (where the victim lived) for the tragic road accident happened this afternoon on via Ariana (SP 600). The road that connects the towns of Velletri and Lariano, as reported by Castelli Notizie shortly after the tragic accident, was the scene of a very serious accident, with fatal outcomes for one of the occupants of the vehicles involved. The accident occurred around 4.10pm, in the stretch between the intersections with via Redina Ricci and via Arcioni, in the municipality of Lariano.
The collision involved several cars, including a Fiat Panda, a Jeep Renegade and a Mercedes. One of the cars overtook another and ended its run stuck in the ditch, with tragic results for a man, who lost his life.
The victim was identified as an 86-year-old man, born in 1938, resident in Paliano, in the province of Frosinone. An ambulance, a medical vehicle and two Carabinieri patrols from the Lariano station and the Velletri radiomobile unit immediately intervened on site, as well as the fire brigade, called to extract the injured from the twisted metal sheets of the cars and, unfortunately, also the victim. Traffic along Via Ariana was blocked to allow rescuers to take care of the injured and the police to carry out investigations. The road has been closed for hours now, awaiting orders from the medical examiner.
Inevitably, long queues formed in both directions, with traffic being diverted onto alternative routes to reduce the impact on the whole area. The dynamics of the accident are still under investigation, but the authorities are working to clarify the causes of the collision.
The body of the deceased man, whose identity was confirmed by the soldiers who intervened, was covered with a yellow cloth awaiting the instructions of the magistrate on duty. The victim, aged 86, was a resident of Paliano, in the province of Frosinone, and his life ended tragically in yet another road accident which unfortunately is dotted in the news. It cannot be ruled out that the accident may have been caused by an illness.
