1200 bikers at the start, great celebration for the SC Millegrobbe committee of Lavarone
The three-time Italian champion Juri Ragnoli wins the 100 Km dei Forti and scores his 5th personal success in the legendary Marathon of Lavarone, on Alpe Cimbra. Thirty-year-old Vittoria Pietrovito also repeats the feat, lining up her opponents, replicating the success of 2023.
Enthusiasm was sky high among the 1200 bikers who this morning set out for the “100 Km dei Forti” from the Palù Park in Lavarone to tackle the Marathon (94.86 km) and Classic (52.39 km) routes which wind along Alpe Cimbra among the fortifications of the First World War.
In the men’s event, Juri Ragnoli dictated the law, with a champion attack that allowed him to manage his advantage over his opponents and give himself a splendid solo finish. Exactly 4 minutes behind Ragnoli, Daniele Mensi (Leynicese RDR Factory Team) climbs onto the second step of the podium, completed by the excellent performance of Davide Foccoli, born in 2001 for the Olympia Factory Team. “It was a great satisfaction to win here, I wanted to do well because the last few weeks haven’t been easy and I was looking for good sensations. The victory made everything even more special” declared the winner of the FM Bike Factory Team enthusiastically upon arrival.
For women, Vittoria in name and in fact for the Volano champion Vittoria Pietrovito. The Bike and Fun Team biker overcame all the difficulties involved and, despite the fatigue in her legs from the Nosellari Bike on Saturday and a puncture in the first kilometers of the race which made the initial stages more difficult for the cyclist, Vittoria Pietrovito did not give up lost heart: “the legs were there and they weren’t there, the head was there. I’m really happy with this victory, winning here at the 100 km is a unique emotion” she added, satisfied at the finish line in Lavarone Gionghi. Pietrovito precedes Karin Tosato (Lissone MTB) and Cristina Nardin (Team Todesco).
On the 1190 meters of altitude difference of the Classic route, the Vicenza natives Debora Piana and Domenico Valerio prevailed, who with their success in the “short” and excellent performance also in the Nosellari Bike won the 1000Grobbe Bike Challenge. The much-appreciated combination that unites the two results of the “100 Km” weekend goes to Piana for the clean run (two wins out of two) and to Domenico Valerio (Ellegi Squadra Corse) who recovers important positions after a puncture on the Nosellari had penalized in the standings. “I won the combined two years ago and I wanted to repeat myself this year too. I succeeded by doing my race and managing it well, I’m happy” adds Debora Piana of Team Cingolani upon arrival.
Enthusiastic comments abound among the hundreds of amateurs: “how nice, luckily my friend insisted on letting me participate! To think that I risked missing out on this show” is what we hear on the single track route of the 100 km, a historic and legendary race that leaves both pros and enthusiasts satisfied.
The presence of Gilberto Simoni, guest of the SC Millegrobbe Lavarone organizing committee to reward the protagonists, was appreciated. Coordinating the organization are Alberta Bertoldi and Alessandro Marchesi, who enthusiastically declared at the end of the 28th edition: “a result that makes us proud. A great job was done for 1200 athletes at the start, something truly important made possible by the joint effort of the local municipalities and our tireless volunteers.” The 100 Km dei Forti remains a reference race in Italian mountain biking.
