In the eighth month of pregnancy, Ana Maria, a 27-year-old woman originally from Romania, called her gynecologist when faced with symptoms that foreshadowed imminent birth: the doctor advised her to go to hospital immediately.

Ana Maria went to the bathroom to change, take a shower, get dressed and reach the emergency room of the Pozzuoli Santa Maria delle Grazie hospital, but was unable to do so in time. Little Camilla was born in the bathroom of a bungalow at the “Lido Giardino” resort in Lucrino, shortly after 7.30.
A tourist and a resort employee assisted the woman and her husband, providing support during those intense moments. When the 118 rescuers arrived, they found mother and daughter still tied by the navel.
Medical staff immediately cut and tied the umbilical cord. Both were in good health, but were taken to hospital for further checks. Ana Maria had been feeling mild symptoms since Friday evening, but she didn’t give them any thought given her due date at the beginning of July.
The sudden and quick birth was welcomed with applause by the tourists present at the Lido Giardino, attracted by the bustle and the intervention of the 118 rescuers. The new parents were regular visitors to the Lucrino resort and this year they had rented a bungalow with the parents of both.
